(Bazedoxifene/Conjugated Estrogens) (Vasomotor Symptoms)
The addition
of conjugated estrogens to bazedoxifene for the relief of a wide range
of menopausal symptoms is expected to add significant value to this
product line, potentially making the bazedoxifene family a comprehensive
approach to postmenopausal treatment.
AprelaÔ has the potential to provide improved bone health while also reducing vasomotor symptoms without stimulating breast or uterine tissues. Wyeth was planning to file an NDA for Aprela for treatment of vasomotor symptoms, vaginal atrophy and prevention of osteoporosis.
Those conjugated estrogens are derived from PMU (Pregnant Mare Urine) and if it does indeed prove not to be as harmful as Premarin it will remain just as harmful to the Mares used in the collection process and to the foals born to them. It remains a major misconception that ther are no more PMU mares and foals! Wyeth will no longer allow NAERIC collection farms to sell PMU foals to know rescue organizations.
