If you are skilled at natural horsemanship handling and would like to show us your skills with the hopes of a volunteer handling opportunity we would love to meet you! Because we see so much unintended abuse in how horses are handled and trained we are very protective of who handles them. They are calm, quiet, and extremely affectionate and trusting of humans. One must always remember they are horses and unpredictable! We do not offer a drop of service for young children, if you would like to volunteer with your child for a few hours we will welcome the additional supervision and help.
Please know that stall cleaning here is "cleaning" with great attention to detail, we do not just "pick" stalls. We first remove all of the urine soaked bedding (wood shavings) sweep the remaining wet area under the soiled bedding and remove that, spritz with vinegar or diluted bleach soultion, remove all manure, including the smallest of pieces (this is where great attention to detail comes in.) We then rake the older bedding into the area that was most heavily soiled and put clean bedding in the area that was not as soiled. Yes it is a lot of work, that is why we are giving details, be sure you are willing, we are very particular. This method of cleaning ensures that we get the most out of our bedding and provide the best environment for the horses.
At this time there are NO volunteer riding opportunities. We are in need of stall cleaning help daily!!!
Our horses are "free range" when turned out meaning they come and go as they please, they are only kept in stalls thru the evening. They maintain a very flexible schedule determined by the weather. In when it is hot, humid or the flies are biting, out grazing when the weather is to their liking. Most of our volunteer work is stall cleaning, barn cleaning, farm/ranch maintenance.
